Why We Exist
RootedChange started with a question that would not leave me alone. What if school felt like it mattered? What if it felt like it belonged to the people it was meant to serve?
For years, I watched schools struggle to engage students in meaningful ways. I saw teachers working with heart and grit, but still stuck inside systems that drained them. I saw students disengage not because they lacked potential, but because they were rarely seen, rarely heard, and rarely given space to bring their full selves into the classroom. I saw communities pushed to the margins of decisions about education. I saw parents left out. I saw culture erased. I saw joy disappear.
RootedChange is my response to that.
We exist to build something different. Something human. Something honest. Something grounded.
RootedChange is not just a program or a platform. It is a promise. A promise that school can be a place of meaning, of culture, of community pride and possibility. A place where education is built with students and families, not on top of them.
We are building a model where coaching, culturally responsive teaching, and real-world projects come together to make learning feel alive. We are designing tools that use artificial intelligence to help teachers create powerful learning experiences quickly, without losing depth. We are making space for parents and community members to bring their wisdom into the heart of school transformation. We are creating learning environments where students do not just follow along. They lead. They build. They create. They grow.
We are just getting started. Our first pilot launches this year in Denver. But the work is bigger than one city. We believe this model can help redefine what school feels like for communities everywhere.
RootedChange exists because we believe education should be a reflection of who we are, where we come from, and what we care about. It should build power. It should spark purpose. It should heal.
And we are here to help make that happen.

Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it. - Marian Wright Edelman
Our Mission
RootedChange partners with communities, educators, students, and families to reimagine schools as engines of local power and economic renewal.
Through real-world, student-driven projects, we help historically excluded communities transform their schools into hubs of healing, opportunity, and collaboration.
Our work starts with listening and builds toward shared ownership — creating systems that communities lead, grow, and pass on across generations. Because the solutions we need already live in the people we serve.

Our Vision
Our vision is a future where every school is a community catalyst — a place where students lead, families belong, and neighborhoods thrive.
We imagine a world where historically excluded communities reclaim education as a tool for healing, economic opportunity, and self-determined change.
RootedChange exists to help build that world — one project, one school, and one generation at a time.
